New Steel Rolex Submariner Watch For 2010

Written by admin on September 3, 2010 – 2:27 am -

The long awaited new steel version of the new generation of Rolex Submariner watches is here. The official name is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date. This is not a surprise release from the brand for 2010. However, the introduction of a standard green dial is something I didn't expect. Like clockwork, over the last few years Rolex has been updating their GMT Master II collection and then a white gold new Submariner. Last year the released a new two-tone (steel and gold) Submariner watch with a blue or a black dial. It was only logical that this year would see the release of a new all steel Submariner, ref. 116610. This is most important because the steel versions are the most popular - given their position as having the lowest cost... more

Top Watches Revealed At BaselWorld 2010

Written by admin on March 25, 2010 – 4:00 am -

The following five watches were singled out by writers at AskMen.com as ones they like the best. NO.1 - HUBLOT CLASSIC FUSION The last decade saw a major rebirth of Hublot under the leadership of the charismatic Jean-Claude Biver. Circa 2004, the Big Bang was released and it hit the market like a sledgehammer. Since then, the onslaught of limited and unlimited editions has thrust the Big Bang forcefully into the collective psyche of the watch world, such that what was the invigorating and unique design of the Big Bang is oddly enough now a classic. Chalk it up to the genius of Mr. Biver at the helm of the Hublot ship, but that is how a classic is made with haste. Now, the brand strips down the look for a thinner, more elegant watch known as... more

Every man should own at least one very nice watch and in some cases men will actually own three or four. There are various designer names that are considered to distinguishing in the watch industry and while some are more affordable than others the meaning behind a nice watch says a lot. You can’t go wrong with the classics. Below are some of the classic men’s Swiss watches in varying price ranges. Vintage Watches: Aged to Perfection

Written by admin on October 29, 2009 – 6:41 pm -

What you should know about buying vintage If you want a timepiece with stand-out style—or just one that no one else can get—think vintage. But in watchspeak, vintage means more than just cool-looking or rare. Edward Faber, owner of New York vintage retailer Aaron Faber Gallery, uses the term to define collectible watches made between 1935 (roughly when Swiss technological improvements like shockproofing were invented) and 1985 (when CAD/CAM, a computer system that factored out the watchmaker’s hand, became the manufacturing standard). Whether you’re buying a $500 Hamilton or a $50,000 Patek Philippe, you’re making an investment—one that could pay off significantly over time. Here, Edward Faber, owner of New York vintage retailer... more

Vintage Watches: A Timeless Investment Choice

Written by admin on October 29, 2009 – 5:00 pm -

By: Carolin Schober, CNBC Correspondent As investors continue to ponder whether the recovery in markets is sustainable, some may find that this is the time to put their money in an asset class that lasts. The downturn has hit the luxury watch market hard. Luxury watch exports from Switzerland, where many of the premium brands are manufactured, have seen a decline of 25 percent over the past 9 months and the slump in demand was especially severe for watches made of precious metals. However, the picture for "retail" luxury watches seems to bear little resemblance with the "collectible" luxury watch markets for brands such as Patek Philippe, Jaeger Le Coultre or Vacheron Constantin. Sales of luxury collectible watches have been more resilient... more
